Cityview Hackescher Markt

European cities, in the main, prefer a close-knit traditional beauty in their modern capitals; a marriage of 21st century conveniences and centuries-old craftsmanship, beauty and architectural diversty. Thus when you have an apartment seven storeys up you can expect a view. When you have a vacation apartment on the seventh floor with nothing of similar height in the 'view' direction for hundreds of metres then you are liable to enjoy a panoramic vista. This is precisely what is offered in our splendid Hackescher Markt vacation apartment: unadulterated views across the entire Berlin cityscape and, being south-facing, a profusion of sunlight throughout the day.

Situated to make the most of the views, at the front of the holiday apartment - streetwards - is the living room, dining area and kitchen. All are roomy, well appointed, furnished with hand-picked items designed to be of maximum comfort and usefulness to our guests. Seated in one of the couches you can look out directly through the floor-to-ceiling windows and marvel at the domed churches and museums of Museum Island or the thousand-foot-plus Alexanderplatz TV tower (the tallest freestanding structure in Western Europe) while enjoying your favourite DVDs or music via the entertainment system provided. Perhaps as important, while preparing a meal in the kitchen - a task you may not generally find so enjoyable - you are also blessed with this vista (the kitchen windows face south and thus share the panorama); thus lending an excitement to even the most everyday household chores. It may be that one becomes used to such advantages in time but for a short vacation, who can argue it enhances one's every moment relaxing at home?

The kitchen and bathroom are newly refurbished with everything one would expect in a modern vacation apartment (dishwasher, microwave, extractor fans, shower+bathtub, kitchen equipment for various aspects of food preparation, etc). The living room and dining area likewise share the front of the apartment (facing south, over the street entrance) but when sleep beckons, the beds are advantaged by being roomed at the rear of the building. The bedroom windows are wonderfully large, of course, as elsewhere in the holiday apartment but they look out over private courtyard gardens and thus no street noise filters through to disturb. Two queensize beds and the option of two further rollaways are the standard sleeping provisions, with an abundance of pillows and comforters to swaddle even the laziest of vacations. There is a wardrobe with drawers and a box-room converted into a walk-in closet and storage space into which you may store luggage, clothing, shoes and the like. Free of charge with the apartment comes 24/7 access to laundry facilities in a building nearby where guests will find, a washing machine AND dryer and a dedicated room for ironing, folding and the like.

This is a modern elevator building located adjacent to the world-famous Hackescher Markt. Directly opposite the front doors is a large organic supermarket and a number of restaurants and bars. Turn right when leaving your building and walk ten yards; you'll find yourself at the centre of Hackescher Markt itself, with its dozen restaurants and nightspots, hundreds of outdoor tables, a regular fresh produce market, arts and crafts stalls and easy access to the S-Bahn Hackesher Markt itself - fully restored in all its ornate, intricately mosaic'd glory. Passing across the market you will soon enter Monbijou Park and its riverside cafes, or perhaps you might prefer to cross a bridge to walk directly onto Museum Island to peruse the Pergamon exhibitions; whatever your choice, it's all merely footsteps away. Indeed, to call this apartment central and convenient would be a gross understatement... yet, like all our carefully selected properties, as you lie in bed after a busy day's city exploration you will find no exterior noise irritating your much-needed slumber.

Whatever your purpose in Berlin, whatever the size and make-up of your group, you will find our properties meets even the most exacting of criteria. It is, quite simply, the perfect base not only from which to explore Berlin, but also to live in the comfortable 'grand' style of a local; an instant way to integrate with the city, to live as a Berliner, in a welcoming, luxurious environment furnished at every turn by a personal touch impossible to find in hotels. All this for less than the price of an average hotel room.
