Located but a few minutes from the well-situated Oranienburger Tor U-Bahn (on the famous U6 train-line, a couple of stations from Checkpoint Charlie; just one from Unter den Linden and the Brandenburg Gate) this is one of our most popular vacation rentals. The guest benefits from a best-of-both-worlds experience, located at the centre of Mitte with some of Berlin's finest restaurants, galleries, delis and cultural highspots on your doorstep and a cosmpolitan blend of shopping all around; yet the apartment is situated in the 'gartenhaus' or Garden House - which means it is isolated from any street noise night and day. The property is second floor, south-facing so it catches the sunshine through the day and overlooks a leafy-green courtyard; a true oasis in the metropolis. Two quiet double bedrooms and separate living/dining room are strung along the flat's hallway, again allowing late sleepers to be undisturbed by an early riser using the TV/high-end stereo in the living room. This apartment offers free landline telephone to the EU, USA and UK; unlimited incoming and full broadband wireless internet. Major supermarket within a block, 24 hour gourmet deli within two - quality designer furnishings, all mod-cons (dishwasher, two microwaves, standup shower, washing machine, etc) and a peerless Berlin neighbourhood situation; small wonder this apartment has become our 'most enquiries received' property for 2009.

The master bedroom has as-standard wardrobe and closet space galore, with a kingsize adjustable bed (recline, sit-up and read and fullflat positions) and high quality mattresses. The bed adjusts in a half-and-half mode, so one person can be lying flat while the other reclines comfortably - reading a book, perhaps, after a day's sightseeing. The second bedroom has a seven-layer soft double futon, with room for extra rollaways. Master bedroom has room for a second queensize bed plus rollaways if desired. Both bedrooms boast work/computer desks, comfortable chairs and all-day quietude for those wishing to concentrate without distractions. The apartment itself is replete with facilities: washing machine with dryer, standup shower, dishwasher, two microwaves (one of which is a high-end Baumatic ovengrill from Harrods in London) and a cornucopia of food preparation tools and accessories. Dining table seats four as standard but extends to meet the needs of six-to-eight, while the living room has been furnished with designer sofas and chairs (3 seater sofa, loveseat, two armchairs - one of which is also a recliner) and an exclusive, boutique-style Chinese laquer coffee table. There is a TV, DVD/VCR and full stereo separates plus quality B+W speakers.

Broadband internet is a standard, with option for telephone access giving ALL landline telephone calls outgoing within the European Union, the United States, Britain and various other countries around the world COMPLETELY free of charge. Needless to say, incoming calls are also uncharged, and internet use is unlimited at an unrestricted 'up to' 16mb speed. There is a security entryphone available for visitors, guaranteeing privacy and aloof situation vis-a-vis the bustling metropolis at whose centre you will find yourself... no better starting point for exploring Berlin, or - for those who know the city - a perfect place to station yourself while you take advantage of Germany's capital and most cosmopolitan conurbantion.

Since you are advantaged by the fabulous location (all the benefits in terms of transport around the city and range of amenities on your doorstep with no drawbacks due to the apartment's 'garden house' position) you can explore most of Berlin's most exciting landmarks with ease. Take a five minute stroll down Fredrichstrasse and you'll be standing on a bridge over the river Spree. Look east and you'll see, a few hundred metres away, the Reichstag building and the Tiergarten Park. Look west and even closer is Museum Island with the Alexanderplatz Tower as its backdrop. Continue along Fredrichstrasse a short way and you will find the famous Fredrichstrasse Bahnhof or rail-station; from here you can connect into West Berlin or indeed anywhere in continental Europe! Beyond the station is the Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate and finally, under fifteen minutes from the apartment, the world-famous Checkpoint Charlie. Everything so close, so easy to reach and if even that amount of walking is difficult or unappealing, you can step onto a tram or into the U-Bahn literally three minutes walk from your building.

There are organic and regular supermarkets in the same block as your apartment building, fine dining (e.g. the Michellin-starred Rutz restaurant), twentyfour hour convenience store and gourmet organic deli, cafes, bars, well-known boutiques and galleries and local hangouts... all within arm's reach. As with all our apartments, you enjoy the privilege of locating yourself in a perfect spot to live and explore Berlin - surrounded by the activity, amenities and ambience of major world capital life; yet in peace when at home, aloof from the hubbub in your gartenhaus oasis.
